Chester handed the Lady Bulldogs their first loss of the season, but not without a fight. With Chester up 9-2, Boynton earned three in the 4th with hits by Alannah Johnson and Kelly Zwicker. Zwicker, Samantha Hughson, and Tori Cardinal held Chester in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Boynton battled back with four in the 6th with hits by Cardinal, Emma Knisley, Johnson, and Zwicker to tie up the game at 9-9.
In the 9th, Chester stole two bases putting themselves in scoring position and then scored on an error before Hughson struck out her 15th batter for the game. Boynton was unable to score in the bottom of the 9th and lost, 10-9.
Coach Veeser said, “Overall the team proved to themselves that they can battle back with competition and make it a contest, this loss will do nothing but improve them.”
