The Mansfield Public Library will host board-certified professional genealogist Angela Harris for a presentation on “Three Men and a One-Shilling Knife” on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.
The program uses a 1788 tavern killing in New Durham to demonstrate how researchers uncover historical stories. Utilizing newspapers, court documents, military records, and petitions, the lecture examines the intertwined lives of three Revolutionary War veterans to show how family history research illuminates early New Hampshire communities.
Harris serves as director-at-large for the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists and specializes in forensic genealogy, probate research, and family reconstruction. Her work covers complex cases across New England, the Midwest, Canada, Mexico, and Italy.
The event is free and open to the public.
