The Jaffrey Select Board unanimously agreed to sell an easement on a strip of land on Union Street to the adjacent landowner, in a short meeting on Wednesday morning.
In a meeting that lasted less than five minutes, the board agreed 3-0 to sell the land for $10,000.
The price was based on a recent assessed value of the land, according to Select Board Administrative Assistant Judy Zola.
The Select Board previously held two public hearings on July 15 and July 29 regarding the prospective sale, with no members of the public offering comment at either hearing.
The property, as described by Select Board Chair Charlie Turcotte during the July 15 hearing, is a 20-foot-by-240-foot easement located on Union Street, between Community Field and 12 Union St., owned by John Peard.
Town Administrator Jon Frederick explained that the initial purpose of the easement was to access the area to build a fence delineating the Community Field parking lot from adjacent properties.
“At this point, Mr. Peard would like to purchase it from the town,” Frederick explained.
The sale of town property requires feedback from the Planning Board and the Conservation Commission, both of which have offered their recommendations on the sale.
Each of the hearings held on the subject was perfunctory, with Frederick offering a brief explanation of the property’s circumstances. The Select Board offered no feedback or questions, and there was no input from members of the public.
“I believe the input is what we have. There’s no comments to be made,” said Turcotte at the July 15 meeting, after no public comments were offered.
