A team of more than 20 active-duty military members and civilians will participate in the 2026 New England Run for the Fallen, a three-day tribute honoring service members from New England who died while serving during the War on Terror.
The relay-style event will begin Aug. 14 at 7 a.m. with a ceremony at Cushman Park in Bernardston, Massachusetts, and continue more than 140 miles to Fort McClary in Kittery Point, Maine.
Participants will cover approximately one mile for each fallen service member. Along the route, runners will stop at designated Hero Markers to honor individual service members with brief ceremonies attended by family members, friends and fellow veterans. American flags and Honor and Remember flags will be placed at each marker.
Organizers say the event’s goal is to create a 140-mile memorial trail recognizing the sacrifices of military personnel who died in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn.
The route will travel through Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Information about the route, participation opportunities and donations is available at honorandremember.org.
