Peterborough Elementary School second graders Gracie Hanson, Catie Pickert and Ember Lively are the winners of the Peterborough Master Plan button contest.

Hansonโ€™s design featured a bird and tree, Pickertโ€™s featured the Town House and Livelyโ€™s featured a cat.

โ€œWe thought each of these designs appropriately represented different aspects and chapters of Peterborough: natural resources and open space; local government and historic resources; and the arts and cultural resources, respectively,โ€ said Trisha Cheever, energy and community planner in Peterboroughโ€™s Office of Planning and Building.

Thirty students participated in the competition, and the Peterborough Select Board weighed in on favorites to help determine the final selections.

โ€œEvery submission was truly wonderful,โ€ Cheever said. โ€œWeโ€™ve already begun distributing the buttons, and theyโ€™ve been very well received. Itโ€™s been especially rewarding to see residents proudly wearing and displaying them around town after participating in the Master Plan process.โ€
