Keene, NH – Douglas F. Gilroy passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at his home in Keene, NH at the age of 78. He was the middle son of F. Lloyd and Elsie Gilroy (Barnet) from Kittery Point, ME and Newton, MA. Born in Newton MA, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Boston University and a master’s degree in education administration from Keene State College.
After graduating from Boston University, he moved to Rindge, NH and had his first teaching job at the Jaffrey-Rindge School District as a 7th โ 12th grade science teacher where he remained for 35 years. The grades he truly loved to teach were 7th and 8th as the kids kept him young.
During his years teaching, he enjoyed coaching the Conant Orioles baseball team as well as being active at the Rindge Fire Department and Planning Board.
After retiring at the age of 59, he was an adjunct teacher at Franklin Pierce College as well as a driver for Thomas Transportation in Keene, NH.
In 1998 Doug married Alana Mosley and lived in Keene the remaining years of his life. In those years, he loved remodeling houses, his beloved family camp on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham, NH where he was an avid water skier, as well as his wife’s lake house on Lake Massaseecum.
Alana and Doug also enjoyed riding their Harley motorcycles throughout New England, down to Washington DC, and along the Blue Ridge Mountains. Together they also enjoyed traveling to Tenerife, Warsaw, England, Vienna, Kauai, Alaska and other states in the continental US. Doug would frequently visit his brother and sister-in-law in Sarasota FL.
Doug had a passion to make sure all family, and friends were welcome and taken care of โ his family was one of the most important factors in his life.
He was predeceased by his younger brother, Mark Gilroy of Newton, MA. He leaves behind his wife Alana Mosley; daughter’s Kara-Ann Kuffel and her husband Nicholas Kuffel, Alison Gilroy and grandson Andrew Marro; his brother Curtis Gilroy and sister-in-law Grace Sammon; niece and nephews, Fenwick Gilroy, Laura Barbosa and Kevin Gilroy; and his step children, George “Albie” Mason, PJ Mason, his partner Abigail Kropp and child Nicholas Kropp, and Brigida Mosley and her partner Aaron Providence and their three children, Jolynn, Tessila and Apheus.

A private ceremony in Kittery, Maine, will follow to lay Doug to rest.
