A question for our Republicans in Congress. What would it take? What outrage would inspire you to locate your moral compass?

Trump invades Canada, bombing Montreal and Ottawa, with boots on the ground in every province. (And soldiers wearing those boots.) No problem?

Trump orders the bombing of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, claiming that they are openly harboring radical left-wing lunatics and dark-skinned people. Still okay?

Trump signs an Executive Order demanding you surrender your firstborn to him, vowing that if the child shows the slightest sign of incipient radical left-wing lunacy or dark skin, he or she will be sent to San Salvadorโ€™s CICOT prison for โ€œtreatment.โ€ Should you fail to surrender the child, you will be sent there. Do you comply?

You may dismiss these as extreme examples and perhaps they are. But not by much. Quasi-military occupation of American cities? Murder of American citizens? Wanton bombing of another nationโ€™s innocent citizens? Vulgar tweets threatening outright war crimes? Those are just a few of the extreme examples you have shrugged off to date. So really, itโ€™s fair to ask โ€” what would it take?
