The Hancock Town Library will present “Meditations on the Natural World: The Art of Michael Cherry (1946–2025)” through Dec. 17 in the Daniels Room.

Cherry, a Stoddard artist known for his detailed pen-and-ink depictions of the natural world, also worked in charcoal for looser interpretations. His work is marked by precise observation and a meditative approach to landscape. Cherry, who died Oct. 14, began his career as a chemical engineer before shifting to art and later teaching at Houston Community College in Texas. He also crafted the wooden frames for his pieces and was an avid guitarist who played with local musicians.

In a recent artist’s statement, Cherry wrote that his creative process was rooted in close observation and a sense of connection to the natural world, often drawing inspiration from time spent in the woods and near water.

The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours, Monday and Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to call the library at 603-525-4411 to confirm room availability.
