Friends of the Jaffrey Library are accepting donations of gently used books on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon in the libraryโ€™s Bean Room on the main level. Those who canโ€™t attend this month can mark their calendars for the next event Dec. 13.

Friends volunteers review all donations before accepting them. Recent paperback and hardcover fiction โ€” especially mysteries and thrillers โ€” are in high demand, along with memoirs, biographies and general nonfiction. The Friends cannot accept magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, travel guides, medical, financial or computer books, because these quickly become outdated. All donated books should be in good condition, with no underlining, stains or torn pages.

These second-Saturday events are the only times books can be accepted. Donors are asked not to leave boxes or bags of books with library staff or in the outside book drop.

Proceeds from the Friendsโ€™ ongoing book sales support a wide range of library programs and services for the community.
