The third presentation at the 77th annual Amos Fortune Forum 2024 summer speaker series will feature Nora Suarez Lewis, development associate for the Black Heritage Trail of NH, who will present “The Journey from Enslaved to Patriot: Amos Fortune and Other Early African-Americans in New Hampshire.”

This free presentation will be held in the Meetinghouse located in Jaffrey Center Friday, July 19, at 8 p.m. The talk will recount “the stony road” several Black New Hampshire citizens traveled to realize their right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness as envisioned for all Americans in the Declaration of Independence. Like Amos Fortune, many of them chose to give back to their communities by becoming good neighbors, strong leaders and creative entrepreneurs.

Lewis has served as the president of the Hollis Woman’s Club, president of the Colonial Garden Club of Hollis and a troop leader for the Hollis Girl Scouts. She has been lead floral designer for Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and a 4-H club leader for more than 10 years.

This summer, the Forum is providing space and seating on the Meetinghouse Common for attendees who would like to arrive early and bring a picnic. This space will be set up on Friday evening by 6:30 p.m.

A recording of each event will be available on YouTube shortly after the presentation. Information is available at amosfortune.org
