Cadet Quintin Walker of the Monadnock Squadron, which drills the third weekend of each month at South Meadow School in Peterborough, was named the Northeast Field Area League Cadet of the Year for the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. 

Cadets nominated for this award must excel in all phases of training, be strong academically and show leadership or the potential to develop leadership. Due to his leadership ability, academic standing at Murdock Middle School in Winchendon, Mass., and community service efforts, Walker was nominated for this award by Lt. Jane LaRoche of the Monadnock Squadron.
