Two Peterborough men were arrested in association with two vehicles stolen last week, Peterborough police said in a Saturday press release.
Branden M. French, 18, and Antonio M. Brito, 22, of Peterborough, were arrested after a weeklong investigation into the thefts. French was charged with theft by unauthorized taking, breach of bail, criminal trespass, criminal liability for the conduct of another, and operating without a license. Brito was charged with theft by unauthorized taking, criminal trespass, and criminal liability for the conduct of another. Both were being held at the Valley Street Jail as of Saturday, and were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, June 28.
The announcement came a little under a week after a 2021 Jeep Gladiator from Currier Avenue and a 2012 Mazda from nearby Hall Court were both reported stolen on Monday, June 21. The Mazda, which belonged to a Maine resident visiting local relatives, was found abandoned along Burke Road minutes after being reported missing. A kayaker discovered the Jeep submerged in Powder Mill Pond in Greenfield, and first responders towed it out after confirming there was nobody inside, as previously reported.
