A truck-mounted crane was dissembled and removed from Contoocook Lane in Peterborough after it tipped over on Friday morning.

A tree company was finishing up a job around 7:30 Friday morning and were rotating the crane around when the truck toppled, Fire Chief Ed Walker said. The operator was uninjured, he said.

The crew spent several hours trying to right the crane with help from Duvalโ€™s Towing and Recovery, after which they opted to cut the boom, Walker said. They summoned the Fire Department around 1 p.m., Walker said, in case the metal cutting started a brush fire. It did, but it was quickly extinguished. The crew was able to remove the truck late in the evening, and the severed boom was retrieved the following day, Walker said. The road was blocked while the truck was overturned.
