Jaffrey gave its thanks on Tuesday to Jaffrey Police Administrator Denise Chatel, marking 25 years of service.

Select Board Chair Charlie Turcotte read a proclamation, noting Chatel’s long service to the town.

“Denise has been the backbone of the police department and has supported five police chiefs and over 30 officers since 2001,” Turcotte said.

Chatel, upon accepting the proclamation, said she has been “blessed” to be part of the department.

“When I first started it was quite intimidating, and I was overwhelmed. I told my husband, ‘I don’t know if I can do this,’ and he said, ‘You can. And you will.’ And 25 years later here I am,” Chatel said. “Thank you for the town for supporting me all this time. It’s been wonderful to work for a town that supports their town departments, not just the police department but all of us. I’m very fortunate for that.”

Chatel was given flowers by members of the department who attended the ceremony, presented to her by Chief Chris LaBrecque.
