A two-car accident in Dublin on Monday morning sent two to the hospital, one by helicopter.
Emergency personnel responded to Route 101 between Window Master and Old County Road around 9:45 a.m. for the report of a two vehicle accident involving a 2014 Penske box truck and a 2005 Ford Freestar. Traffic on Route 101 was stopped for about an hour, while responders cleaned up the scene.
“Neither driver suffered life-threatening injuries,” said Dublin Police Sergeant Jeremy Jeffers at the scene of the accident. Jeffers said that both drivers were conscious during when they left the scene.
At this time, the department will not be releasing the names of the two parties involved in the accident, according to Jeffers, due to a recent communication from the Attorney General’s Office.
Jeffers said recent discussions about the Driver Privacy Act — RSA 260:14 — have created questions as to what information police departments can give to members of the public, media included. He added that Dublin police are trying to clarify the situation.
Jeffers did say that the driver of the Freestar is a 19-year-old male from Wall, New Jersey. He was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts by helicopter.
The driver of the Penske truck has been identified as a 25-year-old male from Swanzey. He was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident at this time, according to Jeffers. Police know that the Penske truck was traveling eastbound and that the Freestar was traveling westbound, and that at one point the Freestar crossed the centerline.
The accident remains under investigation. It is too soon to tell if charges will be pending or who was at fault, according to Jeffers.
Both vehicles were damaged extensively and needed to be towed from the scene. The front end of the Freestar received heavy damage, with the Penske truck receiving much of its visible damage to the driver’s side box area of the truck. There didn’t appear to be much, if anything at all, in the back of the Penske truck.
Jeffers said there were no witnesses on scene during the investigation and encourages anyone who saw the accident to call the Dublin Police Department at 563-8411.
