The Lady Bulldogs advance to the semifinals with their win over Candia. For the first three innings, Samantha Hughson and Alannah Johnson didn’t allow any more than three batters up to hit in the Candia lineup. Hughson had ten strikeouts, one walk, and two fielded outs for the four and a half inning game. Molly Caron and Emma Knisley also aided with a fielded out apiece.
The Boynton offense was on fire. In four innings they earned 27 hits, 22 RBI, and a season high of 25 runs. Avery McClain 3 for 5, Kelly Zwicker went 2 for 3, Shelby Babin 4 for 5, and Hughson 4 for 5 with 6 RBI, a double and a triple. Tori Cardinal earned the “Big Papi” of the game and batted 1.000 with 4 RBI and two triples.
The final two innings were played by the nine 8th graders: Babin, Cardinal, Caron, Hughson, Johnson, Knisley, Kaitlyn Matson, McClain, and Shannon Wooster. These Lady Bulldogs completed their final home game as a team, winning 25-0 and advancing to the semis Wednesday, June 1st against 2nd-seeded Chester.
