Jaffrey’s Select Board has authorized $3,500 to be used to remove tires from the town’s transfer station.

The board approved a resolution Monday to use funds collected from vehicle registration to pay for the tire removal. Town Manager Dave Caron says the funds come from the $3 charge the town adds to each vehicle registration.

“We get rid of a trailer full of tires once or twice a year,” said Caron, who said the resolution was needed to transfer funds in the budget.

The board also met with Lou Casagrande, who expressed a concern about littering in town.

Caron said town officials will look at different strategies to address littering and will discuss it further at the Select Board’s first meeting in June.
