A pair of runners from Ethiopia took home the top spots at the 120th Boston Marathon on Monday, as Lemi Berhanu Hayle was the first man across the line and Atsede Baysa was the first woman. In all, 27,491 runners participated in the race.
Eight local runners also completed the 26.2-mile course, weaving through crowds, security and the set of the next Mark Wahlberg movie on their way to athletic glory.
Lars Sauvola of Rindge finished in 3:06.43, 2,328th overall and 334th in his demographic.
Nels Traffie of New Ipswich finished in 3:07.51, 2,511th overall and 371st in his demographic.
Naomi Traffie of New Ipswich finished in 3:34.30, 9,066th overall and 307th in her demographic.
Sean Radcliffe of Temple finished in 3:37.19, 9,930th overall and 392nd in his demographic.
Elizabeth Cooley of Peterborough finished in 3:50.38, 14,074th overall and 278th in her demographic.
Dan Anair of Temple finished in 3:59.07, 16,554th overall and 1,596th in her demographic.
Carole Singelais of Temple finished in 4:00.00, 16,800th overall and 494th in her demographic.
