WLC bounced back from last Monday’s loss to Mascenic by beating Sunapee 3-2 on Wednesday and rolling all over Portsmouth Christian on Friday, 15-5.

“I firmly believe we’re not as bad as we showed [against Mascenic],” said coach Dave Finch after Friday’s game.

Finch had pulled ace Christian Seely from the Mascenic blowout to save him for Sunapee. The Lakers are one of the division’s top teams, but WLC had lost their previous two games to Sunapee by one run apiece.

“We play them tough, when [Seeley] pitches,” Finch said.

The Warriors beat Sunapee 3-2, doing all their damage in the fifth inning, where Shane Partridge, Nolan Steevens and Seeley all reached and scored.

Seeley allowed four hits in seven innings and struck out three for the win.

On Friday, the Warriors nearly let the game get away from them, as starter Casey Lane allowed five runs in the first. But WLC had a big inning of their own in the second, plating eight, with Lane’s single giving Wilton-Lyndeborough the lead for good.

“I had to trust my teammates,” Lane said. “After the first inning, everyone seems to calm down a little bit and we start to play as a team.”

Lane shut PCA out the rest of the way, and after Tom Crowley drove in WLC’s 15th run, the Warriors won by the ten-run rule, 15-5.

“We compete, and that’s what Wilton’s all about,” Lane said.

Steevens went 2-4 with a double. Ty Carrier was hit by a pitch in his first varsity at-bat.

WLC (2-1) travels to Derryfield (0-2) today at 4 p.m.
