Jonah Wheeler, a Democrat who represents Peterborough and Sharon in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, will speak at the Monadnock Summer Lyceum on Sunday, July 27, at the Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church, 25 Main St.

His talk, โ€œDemystifying State and Local Government,โ€ will focus on his approach to running for office and how others can do it. Wheeler, 22, was elected shortly after graduating from ConVal High School and was reelected in 2024. He serves on the House Environment and Agriculture Committee, and will discuss the responsibilities of a legislator, including introducing legislation and working with other lawmakers.

The lecture begins at 11 a.m. A short reception in the church parish hall will follow. Welcome music begins at 10:30 a.m. and features the local ensemble Grove Street, with Chaz Beaulieu on flute, David Duhon on cello, Eric Blackmer on guitar and Lisa Murray on piano. Attorney and former judge Phill Runyon will serve as moderator.
