Amazing Flower Farm will host a free, rain-or-shine solar power workshop on Saturday, Aug. 1, as local utility customers face upcoming electric rate increases.
The event, co-sponsored by the Hillsborough County Conservation District, will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 202 Poor Farm Road in New Ipswich. It will feature a tour of the farm’s solar array, which owner Ara Lynn installed to offset rising energy costs.
The workshop will include presentations from Gregory Blake, owner of South Pack Solar, who will explain the installation process, and Kerry Rickrode, district manager for the Hillsborough County Conservation District, who will outline Climate Resilience Grants available to farmers. Farm staff member Sarah Tarr will also discuss utilizing solar panels to create favorable environments for shade-loving native plants.
