Monadnock Community Hospital has completed a renovation of its Medical-Surgical Unit that is intended to enhance patient care, improve staff workflow and provide a more-welcoming environment for visitors.
The hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with leadership, staff and members of the community to celebrate. The updated space includes a new therapy gym and expanded therapy office, allowing physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology teams to work with patients to build mobility, confidence and independence.
The expanded nurses’ station now offers additional workstations, enhanced cardiac telemetry monitoring and a new electronic assignment board. Updates also include a shower room that meets Americans With Disabilities Act requirements, an upgraded tub room for functional independence training an improved medication room, a redesigned unit coordinator area and enhancements to the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit nurses’ station.
In addition to structural upgrades, the unit now features patient rooms with calming accent walls, new flooring, brighter paint and updated siderails. The waiting room and discharge lounge were redesigned with new furniture and a privacy screen to offer greater comfort for patients and families.

As part of the hospitalโs Healing Arts initiative, the Medical-Surgical Unit now includes the Art a la Carte program, offering patients the opportunity to select artwork to display in their rooms during their stay.
