Franklin Pierce University has announced a new online Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program designed for the needs of working professionals.
The program – offered exclusively online through Franklin Pierce’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies – prepares certified and licensed professionals to advance their careers in government, education, and emergency response.
Upon completion, students will be awarded a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for certified EMTs, licensed paramedics, emergency nurses, firefighters, police officers, military reservists and veterans, and any first responders to take their careers to the next level,” said Dr. Maria Altobello, Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
“By enabling graduates to search for work in multiple sectors, it expands their potential and influence in the marketplace.”
Students in the program will explore legal, political, and regulatory assessments in EMS settings, and study emerging technology-based health applications, healthy work environments, and other areas necessary to be effective in their roles as providers or managers.
Students are able to choose a track in either management or social science.
Credits can be earned for training to reduce students’ time to degree completion by 18 months or more.
Credits are awarded for having an EMT license, fire fighter training, being a certified police officer, and more.
EMS majors are also afforded an opportunity to continue their education through a Pathway Program, which would allow them to continue onto a graduate program to earn an MBA in Health Administration.
