Maddie Labrie may not be the most imposing figure out there on the mound, but Mascenic opponents are quickly learning to fear the slight young hurler. Labrie struck out 18 batters at Monadnock Wednesday night, as the Vikings cruised to a 9-1 win over the Huskies. Much of the damage was done in the second inning, when Mascenic batted around and scored seven runs.ย
Labrie went 3-4 with a walk, a double, a stolen base, a run scored and two RBI. Casey Wayrynen went 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, ย an RBI and a stolen base. Meagan Brand hit a two-run triple.
On Friday, Mascenic traveled to Stevens and proved their No. 2 and 3 pitchers arenโt too shabby, either, as Sam Bilodeau and Autumn Firmin combined to no-hit the Cardinals, 16-1. Bilodeau struck out six and allowing one run in three innings. Firmin took over and closed the game out with four strikeouts.
Once again, the Vikes batted around in the second inning and scored seven runs. Mascenic stole six bases in the game.
Labrie went 2-4 with three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Meagan Brand hit a three-RBI triple and Raven Comtois doubled twice. Bilodeau went 2-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Wayrynen went 2-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk.
The Vikings (3-0) host Bishop Brady (1-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.
