Poor behavior by NH reps
On February 20, 2026, I attended New Hampshire Judiciary Committee hearings about proposed transgender related bills. I am telling you about my experience with some of the representatives present that day: Representative Jonah Wheeler (D) from Peterborough rudely tried to dismiss me when I quietly asked to speak with him in the hallway outside the judiciary committee room. Representative Wheeler was not part of the committee and was sitting near the exit door when I requested to meet with him. He told me, no, he was not going to speak with me, and that I needed to leave. When I didnโt immediately leave, he continued to escalate by becoming louder and speaking to me in a demeaning manner. He said while pointing his finger at me, โGo on! Get out of here! Leave!โ It felt like he was speaking to me as if I were a child being sent to their room rather than a citizen of the public. I left the hearing and went into the hallway. Representative Wheeler came out of the hearing room shortly after. I approached him to inform him that he was being disrespectful to me by the way he was speaking to me and his refusal to have a conversation. During this interaction, Representative Lisa Mazur (R) from Goffstown began video recording me. I commented on this, and she replied with a smirk on her face, โOh, youโre going to be famous. Iโm going to put you on X!โ
What I experienced on February 20 was not just disrespectful to me. It was disrespectful to every New Hampshire resident they are supposed to serve. We deserve better. Make sure your representatives know it and are worthy of the job.
