The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department urges hunters, hikers, and all outdoor enthusiasts to wear fluorescent blaze orange clothing in the woods this fall as several hunting seasons get underway.

“Wearing blaze orange has statistically been shown to decrease hunting incidents across the country,” said Josh Mackay, coordinator of the state’s Hunter Education Program.

Mackay stated that key safety rules for hunters include controlling firearm muzzles at all times and positively identifying targets before shooting. Hikers are advised to stay on established trails and consult hikesafe.com for safe hiking guidelines.
