Time for new blood in Congress

Federal midterm elections are coming up. Most of our federal officials are seeking higher office or re-election. It is time to ask what each one has done about our $40 trillion national debt. Congress has the “power of the purse” under the Constitution, but has allowed the debt to grow to an unsustainable size.
I have repeatedly written our federal representatives to ask 1) what he or she has done about the debt to date, and 2) what the plan is to fix this problem going forward. I am disappointed to report that none has provided a substantive response.
When our representatives in Congress ignore repeated constituent inquiries about an issue as critical as the national debt, it appears none of them has done anything about it, nor do any even have a plan for doing so if elected to the Senate or House this fall.
If members of Congress don’t know how to fix the national debt before it wrecks America’s economy, and they don’t care enough even to answer constituents, what is the point of sending them back to Washington, DC? It’s time for new blood in Congress that will take its job seriously.
