A Jaffrey man faces multiple charges related to the possession of child sex abuse images.
On Tuesday, members of the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Task Force, including investigators from New Hampshire State Police, Derry Police Department, and Jaffrey Police Department, executed a search warrant on Hadley Road in Jaffrey.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Sebastian Fogg, 28, of Jaffrey on five felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse images.
The investigation was initiated as a result of information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.
Fogg was taken to the Cheshire County Jail and was arraigned at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey on Wednesday.
During his arraignment, the state requested Fogg be kept in jail due to the severity of the charges, being a danger to the public and a potential flight risk. The state referenced his previous criminal history, dating back as far as 2014 and most recently to 2020, though none of the charges were similar to those in his most recent arrest.
Fogg’s public defender, Simon Gray, argued that the state had not proved that Fogg was an active danger to the public or that he was a threat to flee. Gray suggested Foff could be subject to electronic monitoring upon the completion of assessment and treatment for substance abuse. He said with additional conditions such as restricting internet access, the public would be protected.
“I heard an assertion that my client will be a danger to the public and a flight risk, but not an argument to either,” said Gray.
Fogg lived and worked in the area, had lived in the county his entire life, had family ties in the area, and has been supporting family financially, Gray said.
“There is no indication of flight risk, nor history of failure to appear,” Gray argued.
The court agreed to hold Fogg in preventive detention and that Fogg undergo assessment at the House of Corrections. Further bail discussions will be held at a separate hearing.
