Ever since I was little I knew that I wanted to help those around me, friends, family,
community members, and our earth. I remember begging my mother to help me start a Girl
Scout Troop so I could help those around me. Now it’s 2026. I’m a volunteer for the same
troop just 13 years later and I still love to help out where I can from town wide cleanups,
leading events or making blankets for Project Linus. I fondly think of the times I was on the
receiving end of a community supper before an event and now I have the opportunity to
serve others. I joined the National Honor Society at Conval because I wanted more
opportunities to interact with my community. Because of this I’ve been able to be a
volunteer teaching assistant at two different classrooms across our district and I’ve
discovered my love of helping the next generation find their passion as well. I’m proud to
say that I now work at a non-profit for children and I’ve been accepted into a Master’s Program of Education at University of Rochester.

I’ve also worked for four years at Crotched Ski Mountain as a Ticket Scanner and
Line Director, I never thought that I would have an impact. But after countless emails,
‘thank yous’, and kind words from all walks of life I’m happy to say that I’ve made quite the
impact on those around me. Just by being kind and trying to make those lines at the Rocket
Lift go faster, can make somebody’s day. I especially like helping the Boys and Girls Club
kids from Boston learn how to get on the lifts and assist them in skiing or boarding on the
mountain. They remind me of when I was learning how to ski. I gained the knowledge and
skills I have now from the people around me; ski instructors, teens, and parents who
devoted their own time to me inspire me to now help those whose shoes I once wore.
These moments make me proud and serve the greater good.

At school I’m the president of both the German and Art Clubs and I take pride in
learning and connecting with all the grades. Through German Club we’ve hosted cultural
food afternoons, collaboration days with Spanish Club, German Learning Events at PES and
hopefully Pierce Elementary School, and so much more. One of my favorite contributions
however is hanging outside Frau Hodgdon’s room. When I learned that the school was
going to have language students paint an AI design that was meant to unite Peterborough
and our sister city – Salzburg, Austria; I knew something had to be done. Me and the other
students protested quietly by not submitting AI designs but by making ones of our own. My
painting was chosen and soon the collective art piece was finished. Connection and love
can’t come from something machine, but rather from teamwork and soul. Communities are
made by doing your part and helping someone else do theirs.
