The ConVal High School boys track and field team turned in a series of standout performances at the Meet of Champions on Saturday at Oyster River High School.

Senior Ross Stephens broke the New Hampshire state record in the 400-meter dash, winning in 47.67 seconds with a dramatic come-from-behind finish over Manchester Memorialโ€™s Ewa Edokpolo, who clocked a 47.74.

Junior Griffin Schultz also excelled in the event, placing fifth with a personal-best time of 49.77 seconds.

In the final event of the meet, ConValโ€™s 4×400-meter relay team finished second, just 0.65 seconds behind Pinkerton Academy, while setting a new school record of 3 minutes, 21.70 seconds. The relay team consisted of Ross Stephens, Schultz, Walter Stephens and Bretton Davies.

All of the ConVal athletes who earned those performances qualified for the New England Championships, scheduled for Saturday, June 13, in Berwick, Maine.
