Joshua Tiffany, a former library director in Gray, Maine, will take up the role of library director in Jaffrey.

Tiffany will be filling the role left open by outgoing director Julie Perrin, who left the position last month to take a job as director in Brattleboro, after moving to Vermont.

Tiffany is slated to officially start in the position on June 25.

Tiffany grew up on Peaks Island, Maine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in American studies with an emphasis in expressive culture from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s degree in library and information science from San Jose State University.

Tiffany has extensive experience in libraries, both public and academic. Most recently, he worked as the director of the Gray Public Library in Gray, Maine, until 2025. He has experience in circulation services, cataloging, youth services and union management.

He also has leadership experience within the Minerva Consortium, a shared, statewide network of more than 60 public, school, academic and special libraries across Maine. He served as a member of the Circulation Committee, chair of the Cataloging Committee, treasurer of Minerva and a member of the Minerva Executive Board.

While director in Gray, Tiffany helped implement a $1.5 million expansion project for the library, as well as overseeing programming.

Before his library career, Tiffany worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA leader, retail manager, mall security guard, parking lot attendant, financial services processor and short-order cook.

In his free time, Tiffany is an avid film enthusiast, photographer, hiker and reader with an appreciation for nearly every genre of book. He looks forward to meeting and learning more about the Jaffrey community and supporting the Jaffrey Public Library as a welcoming resource for recreation, lifelong learning, information and community connection.
