Sharon Selectman Capt. Jonathan Shomody assumed command of the Monadnock Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol during a formal change-of-command ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the main lobby of the Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport.

Shomody, who holds a private pilot’s certificate and a master’s degree in manufacturing engineering from Pennsylvania State University, currently serves as the Civil Air Patrol New Hampshire Wing director of logistics and as a character development instructor for the local squadron. A former cadet with the Pennsylvania Wing, he succeeds Capt. Ruede, who led the squadron through four years of emergency service preparations, local training exercises, and cadet leadership initiatives that earned the unit the National Quality Cadet Unit Award.
Operating as an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the squadron conducts emergency services, aerospace education, and youth cadet programs across the Monadnock region.
