The job search is underway for a new library director for the Jaffrey Public Library.
Former director Julie Perrin has officially left the position to head the Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, Vt. She took the helm there on May 11.
The Jaffrey Public Library Trustees started the search for Perrin’s replacement in late April. There has yet to be a hire for the position, although the trustees have held several non-public sessions to interview potential candidates. Since April 21, the board had held four non-public sessions under 91-A: 3, II (b), the statute that allows discussions surrounding hiring to be non-public.
According to Library Trustee Chair John Stone, the board is hopeful of deciding in the near future, and possibly as soon as the end of next week.
“We are really contemplating this, and want to make the right decision,” said Stone. “I hope we will have a decision soon.”
The board has not yet scheduled a meeting to discuss the final decision on hiring a new director.
The board has previously agreed not to appoint an interim director and is looking for a permanent replacement.
In the meantime, the board has delegated director tasks among current library employees and trustees.
