Fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center, 26 Main St., Peterborough.
Ahead of the concert, Tsukamoto will teach an informal masterclass at 2 p.m. for players of all skill levels. The one-hour workshop costs $45, requires advance registration, and is capped at 10 students. The session will cover scales, thumb placement, tuning, improvisation, chords, tone, and rhythm.
Tsukamoto, a Kyoto, Japan native who began playing banjo and guitar as a young teen, has performed at venue highlights including the Blue Note in New York City and the United Nations. His concerts combine intricate fingerstyle guitar, melodies, and storytelling.
