ConVal walked off with a 2-1 win over Plymouth in eight innings Tuesday night after Sydney Borges delivered a squeeze bunt to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Plymouth struck first with a run in the top of the second inning before ConVal answered in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1. Neither team scored in the seventh, sending the game into extra innings.

Plymouth threatened in the top of the eighth, loading the bases, but ConVal escaped the jam without allowing a run.

The Cougars capitalized in the bottom half of the inning. Natalie Ellis drew a leadoff walk and Mae Hagelberg advanced her with a bunt. Plymouth intentionally walked Kinley Moore to load the bases before Borges laid down a successful squeeze bunt to bring home the winning run.

ConVal finished with six hits. Hagelberg had two bunt singles, Borges added a bunt single, Chloe Hamlin doubled, and Maddy Guay and Opale Barrick each singled.

Borges pitched all eight innings for ConVal, striking out 15. Barrick led the defense at first base with six outs as Plymouth repeatedly hit to the right side.

On Thursday, ConVal rolled to an 11-3 victory over Hollis-Brookline behind a dominant performance in the circle from Sydney Borges and a balanced offensive attack that produced 13 hits.

Borges pitched all seven innings for the Cougars, striking out 18 batters while allowing just two hits.

Mae Hagelberg led the offense with a double and a single, while Kinley Moore collected a double and two singles. Borges added a double at the plate, and Chloe Hamlin contributed a double and a single.

Annabelle Laughters highlighted the night with an inside-the-park home run and a single. Addy Fontaine, Maddy Guay and Sienna also recorded singles for ConVal.

The Cougars improved to 8-3 and will travel to Lebanon for their next game.
