The Greenfield Sportsman’s Club hosted its annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7 at the club’s property on Savage Road in Greenfield. About thirty families braved cold and rain to try their luck at the Sportsman’s Club’s stocked pond.

“It’s great to see so many people here, and so many kids out enjoying the outdoors. We wish more people would get out and use the property, because not everyone knows about it,” said Gary Russell of the Greenfield Sportsman’s Club.

The property on Rand Brook, which includes a pond, picnic shelter and stone barbecue, is open to all Greenfield residents. The property is adjacent to the Greenfield Town Forest.

Sunday’s Derby was followed by the club’s annual rubber duckie race and an awards ceremony.
