Recent Letters to the Editor have expressed criticism of President Trump, and news articles have featured โNo Kingsโ signs and flags waving meant to insult our president. It has been reported that money promoting such gatherings came from George Soros, the CCP, and other groups with no love for our country, eager to stir anger and division; it appears they may be succeeding.
I have different feelings to express. I feel appreciation and joy as I follow news of the rescue of our brave airmen. When I heard two of them had been shot down in Iran on Good Friday, I said a prayer asking God to help bring them home safely. The first airman was rescued the same day; todayโs gift was hearing that an expertly planned and executed rescue plan achieved the goal of bringing the second airman home on Easter morning. I am in awe of the great men and women who love and serve our country; of our president who works tirelessly night and day for us; and of our military leaders who plan and conduct such precise actions to bring every soldier home. Meanwhile, 252,000 miles away, our team of astronauts were traveling around the moon, further than anyone has ever traveled from Earth. Our country has many heroes to celebrate.
America has done more for the free world than any other country you can name. This country and its leaders may not be perfect, but not many things are in this world. We should all be able to work towards things we believe in without demonizing those with whom we disagree.
Hopefully, we can move forward to waving the flag of the United States of America as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our founding. May God bless America and keep her safe for generations to come.
