US Surrenders
Did anyone notice the US surrender. We still don’t know why we attacked Iran and what military objectives were needed to succeed. The reasons come and go as easily as the wind changes. The Congress didn’t declare war, required by our Constitution. The United Nations didn’t agree to war as required by the UN Charter. After World War II horrors, we and other nations agreed to seek UN approval before waging war to prevent new world wars. We are now like Russia.
While the Strait of Hormuz was open, it is now closed to all but Iranian friends and those paying a toll. International law forbids tolls, but who will stop them? Given the 30,000 to 50,000 oil tankers and ships carrying 30 percent of world fertilizer supply and other vital commodities, tolls will increase Iran income possibly by $60 billion or more. This is not going to reduce prices. So, what have we achieved by killing thousands of people, spending billions on combat operations, and suffering losses of service members? We look foolish. I just don’t get it, do you?
I cannot imagine what thinking led us to attack Iran. Anyone who studies the Middle East, knows how difficult military operations are and how easy it is to close the Strait. A simple drone can cripple or destroy a ship. So now we will pay more for everything. Our oil is not the answer because without 20% of the oil supply going where it is needed, commerce will stop. This will be worse than anything in the 1970s. The entire world will suffer for this debacle. Only one person is responsible. He created the mess and now he expects others to fix it. Our Congress failed us. I pray to God to change minds.
