The ConVal Regional High School girls varsity soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Kingswood Regional High School in a rescheduled contest Saturday afternoon.
Kingswood took an early lead in the fourth minute following an unfortunate ConVal own goal off an attempted clearance. The Knights doubled their advantage four minutes later, converting a rebound from a free kick after goalie Amelie Davis couldn’t secure the initial ball. Kingswood made it 3-0 in the 16th minute with a strike from the edge of the penalty box into the bottom corner.
ConVal cut the deficit in the 28th minute after a right-flank sequence. Larianna Trudel beat a defender and sent an early cross into the box, where Charlotte Broadley chipped it over the Kingswood keeper to make it 3-1 at halftime.
Juliette Langley took over goalkeeping duties for ConVal in the second half and turned away several scoring attempts. Kingswood sealed the match when a defensive clearance bounced off a Knights attacker into the box, leading to a quick finish for the final 4-1 margin.
ConVal looks to bounce back as it hosts Kennett High School for Senior Night on Tuesday in the team’s final home match of the regular season. The Cougars will wrap up their schedule on the road at Merrimack Valley on Thursday and Plymouth Regional on Friday.
