Springsteen speaks through this song

On Saturday, Jan. 24, Bruce Springsteen had had enough and set to work writing a song about the recent killings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On Sunday, he recorded “Streets of Minneapolis”, an ICE protest song of the “winter of 26.” Thank you, Bruce, for reaching out to each of us with a song about the brutality we are witnessing closeup or from afar.

Peter, Paul and Mary, back in the day, wrote songs of atrocities in Central American countries. Bruce is carrying forth with the talent of putting into song the nonsensical killings taking place in our country, feeding our souls with what we are feeling. This protest song of this era needs to be sung and shared with others. The behavior by ICE agents, which prompted Bruce to write about the wrongs, is for all of us to partake in protesting the violence. Thank you, Bruce, for putting into song for shared use our feelings that each of us needs to confront.
