ConVal junior Griffin Schultz led the way for the boys’ indoor track team Saturday at the University of New Hampshire, in its final tune-up before the New Hampshire Indoor Track League State Championship Meet.
Schultz accounted for all 18 points scored by the team, which finished seventh out of 16 teams that included several Division I programs. Schultz won the 55-meter dash in 6.89 seconds to earn 10 points and placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 1 inch, adding eight more.
Senior Whitney Adair scored the lone point for the girls by placing sixth in the 600-meter dash in 1:49.69. Seniors Sara Mackie and junior Callie Post also recorded personal-best performances, with Mackie running the 1,000 meters in 3:57.19 and Post finishing the 600 meters in 2:02.72.
The State Championship Meet will be held over two weekends. The high jump and 4×800-meter relay are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 1, at UNH, with the remaining events set for Sunday, Feb. 8, at Plymouth State University.
At a separate meet, senior Ross Stephens competed against top high school athletes nationwide at the New York International Showcase on Staten Island, where he ran a personal-best 34.12 seconds in the 300-meter dash. Stephens is the reigning Division II champion in the event and will defend his title Feb. 8.
