A community performance of the Christmas portion of Handelโ€™s โ€œMessiahโ€ will take place Saturday, Dec. 6, at Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church.

The performance, conducted by James Sharrock, features professional vocal and instrumental soloists, a community chorus of about 75 singers, and the Apple Hill String Quartet, which will return to provide string accompaniment. Organist Peter Sykes will join the ensemble this year.

The free 70-minute concert begins at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary and concludes in time for attendees to head downtown for the Childrenโ€™s Lantern Parade at 6 p.m. The sanctuary is fully accessible via the rear entrance and elevator.

Community members interested in singing are invited to participate. For more information about joining the chorus, visit facebook.com/MessiahPbro or email friendsofmessiahptbo@gmail.com.
