A new exhibit, โRevolution, Reaction, Reform in Cheshire County,โ runs through Feb. 21, 2026, at the Historical Society of Cheshire County.
The exhibit explores how revolutionary ideas, community responses and reform movements have shaped the region from the 18th century to the present. Items on display will include artifacts and archival materials from the Societyโs collection as well as contributions from local libraries, historical societies and residents. Topics range from local industry and the American Revolution to World War II and modern protest movements.
The project is based on the 2026 National History Day theme. Director of Education Michelle Walker proposed the exhibit to raise awareness of the national program and encourage educators to incorporate local history into student projects.
Several programs will accompany the exhibit. A teacher workshop on disability history with Keene State Collegeโs Dr. Graham Warder will take place Nov. 19 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Additional events include โAn Evening with Ken Burnsโ on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre, featuring a discussion and audience Q&A exploring the enduring relevance of the American Revolution, a lecture by Warder on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m., and a documentary screening on the Kingsbury Corporation on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
The exhibit will be free during regular business hours at the Putnam Exhibit Hall, 246 Main St., Keene and is sponsored by the Putnam Foundation and Douglas Toys. For details, visit hsccnh.org or call 603-352-1895.
