A new nonprofit, Our Own House, will host a community dance party and benefit on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Peterborough Town House. The event will feature live music by The Flaming Poodles, a local band formerly known as The Gigantics, along with a 50/50 raffle, cash bar, and snacks. Donations for admission will be accepted at the door.

Band member Patrick Hooper said the band’s set list includes hits by Wild Cherry, Van Morrison, The Specials, Bob Marley, John Hiatt, and Bruce Springsteen. Performing members are Hooper on guitar, bass, and vocals; Glenn Kelly on keyboards and vocals; Eric Pohl on drums and vocals; and Gary Schnakenberg on bass, guitar, and vocals.

Proceeds will benefit Our Own House, which aims to build housing in Peterborough for adults with developmental disabilities, providing supportive services that foster greater independence. Planned residents will live in their own apartments, hold jobs, and volunteer in the community.

The organizationโ€™s board of directors includes co-chairs Dawn and Andrew Brescia, Jennifer Bernet, Rosemary Duggan, Jane Gallagher, and Hooper.
