Manga fans are invited to Balin Books on Saturday, Nov. 8, for a day celebrating manga and comic-inspired storytelling.
At 11 a.m., author Perry Metzger and illustrator Jerel Dye will discuss their new book “Science Comics: Computers โ How Digital Hardware Works.” The illustrated book is aimed at middle school readers and curious adults, and follows Victorian-era computer expert Professor Isabella Brunel โ a Tyrannosaurus Rex โ on a humorous and informative journey through the basics of computer architecture. Metzger holds a computer science degree, and Dye has taught drawing, cartooning, and comics in Massachusetts since 2010.
At 2 p.m., manga creator Chris Fisk will present his new series, “The Infinitale Chronicles.” Set on the world of Esperia, the story follows the immortal Aelvars and their struggle against the tyranny of the gods. Fisk, who has worked in video game development on titles including “Firefall,” “Defiance,” and “Assassinโs Creed: Memories,” will discuss the process of building his fantasy universe and characters.
