With the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment exceeding $1,700 a month, many Monadnock region families are forced into homelessness. What can we do to help our neighbors find permanent housing?

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 7 to 8 p.m.ย  at the Monadnock Center for History andย Culture, the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript and Monadnock Center will host a Community Conversation on homelessness โ€” its causes, challenges and theย steps we can take as aย community to support our unhoused neighbors.

The โ€œconversation startersโ€ will be as follows:

โ€“ Cari Coatesย –ย McKinney-Vento homeless liaison for theย ConVal School District.

โ€“ Susan Howardย –ย program director of the Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter and chair of Peterborough’s Affordable Housing Committee.

โ€“ Amanda Carterย –ย kinship navigator/community resource specialist and advocate at The River Center.

Each will speak for three to five minutes, and the remainder of the hour will be devoted to questions and comments from the audience.
