Overview:

Stephenson Memorial Library in Greenfield, NH has a full schedule of programs coming up.

Hello from the Stephenson Memorial Library!

It has been a hot summer. Thanks to the hard work of the Select Board, Iris Waitt, DPW and the library trustees, the library has five new window air conditioning units, and it is now much cooler inside. Please come in and cool off whenever itโ€™s hot and weโ€™re open. Thank you to everyone involved in getting these much-needed units.

United Way grant

Thanks to the Monadnock United Way, Stephenson Memorial Library has been awarded a $1,500 programming grant.

We are using the money to host the following programs: Monadnock Falconry on Oct. 12, a virtual author talk with Deborah Hopkinson on Dec. 6 and a sourdough baking basics class (date TBA). The money is also funding two months of book box supplies, the ability to start a seed library, and money to support our Childrenโ€™s Holiday Store later this year. Thank you, Monadnock United Way!

Story times grow

We have seen great growth in our Wednesday story times, and we are now adding a new program. On Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m., we will have Mom Group and Toddler Play Time (all ages welcome), and Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m., we will have a story time (all ages welcome) that includes reading, a craft, and a snack.

We are looking to try some new programs. If you are interested in any of the following programs, please let me know.

Show-and-Tell Story Time — Are you a farmer? Engineer? Baker? Come in and read a story about your profession and show off tools of your trade.

Adult Read Aloud and Discussion Club — Have you ever struggled for conversation in a group setting? Do you want to get better at public speaking? Try this new club on for size. At each meeting, weโ€™ll read a short story, poem, essay or article we found fascinating and discuss it.

Cookbook Club — Grab the monthโ€™s cookbook and choose a recipe. Make it at home and weโ€™ll have a potluck to taste test, share pointers and other lessons learned from trying the recipe.

Passive Book Club — Want to read a book with a group, but donโ€™t have time for another meeting during the week? Stop and grab the book of the month (young adult and adult age-level books included), get the discussion questions and read.

Childrenโ€™s Book Club (juvenile fiction reading level) — Join me in a curated reading list each month. I will send a list of five chapter books each month, and you can choose as many as you like to read. We will meet once a month after school to talk about what we read.
