An investigation is ongoing into a fire on Timbertop Road in New Ipswich where a home and garage were destroyed by fire.
According to a press release issued Wednesday evening, on Sunday, June 22ย at approximately 3:30 a.m., New Ipswich Fire Department responded to a report of a possible warming hut on fire in the former Windblown Ski Area. When officers arrived, they could see the glow of a fire, and made contact with the property owner, who advised the fire was not on his property, but in the Timbertop Road area. ย Crews relocated and began searching that area for the source of the fire.
At 3 p.m., crews located the fire in a house onย Timbertop Road. The house was fully involved, and the garage had collapsed prior to the Fire Department arriving on the scene. One firefighter was transported from the scene for heat-related illness. The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital the same day.
Due to the active investigation, the Fire Department is not releasing further information on this incident.
Assisting at the scene were the Jaffrey Fire Department, Peterborough Fire Department, Greenville Fire Department, Mason Fire Department, Rindge Fire Department, Temple Volunteer Fire Department, Dublin Fire Department, Brookline Fire Department, Ashby Fire Department, Townsend Fire Department, and Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire and Mutual Aid.
The Ashburnham Fire Department established a water supply fill site for tankers, and the Wilton Fire Department covered the the New Ipswich fire station. Souhegan Valley Ambulance, Peterborough Ambulance and the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance stood by at the scene.ย
New Ipswich Police and the New Ipswich Fire Department are assisting with the investigation into the fire, which is being led by the New Hampshire Fire Marshalโs Office.
