MAXT Makerspace and the Peterborough Town Library will host a free screening of the documentary “Join or Die” on Thursday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 2 Concord St. in Peterborough.

The film follows social scientist Robert Putnam and explores the decades-long decline in community connection in the United States, as highlighted in his “Bowling Alone” research. It features voices across the political and social spectrum, including Hillary Clinton, Pete Buttigieg and Dr. Vivek Murthy.

“Join or Die” explores three key civic questions: What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? What can we do about it?

A post-screening discussion will focus on building stronger community ties and brainstorming new club ideas, as well as highlighting existing groups in Peterborough. For information, visit peterboroughtownlibrary.org or call 603-924-8040.
