HANCOCKSmall to speak on Sierra Leone

Author Betsy Small will present “Before Before: A Story of Discovery and Loss in Sierra Leone” on Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. at the Hancock Town Library, 25 Main St., Hancock.

The talk, based on her book, recounts her return to a remote Sierra Leone village where she once served as a Peace Corps volunteer. Small explores the tensions between generations and traditions in a community shaped by change, conflict and resilience.

Small served in the Peace Corps from 1984 to 1987 and has worked for decades with divided communities. She has also led Creating Friendships for Peace, a youth peace-building organization.

The event is free and open to the public. For information, visit hancocktownlibrarynh.org.
